Gene,
Here are benchmarks that show P4 smashes the fastest Athlon and DDR by 41%. It also beats the fastest P3 by 79%. And this is for expensive PC2100 DDR. PC1600 DDR has already been classified as useless expensive junk that is slower than PC133, PC1600 DDR has worse latency than PC133 and costs more than twice as much. PC1600 is useless, slow, expensive junk. Nobody is buying it. Take a look at who's selling P4 and RDRAM on Monday and why those same volume OEMs are not touching that expensive unstable slow DDR junk. That should tell you something. Not that Rambus couldn't use the higher royalties, but the fact is that DDR is unstable, slow, expensive and not even guaranteed to work.

"Pentium 4 1.4GHz and Pentium 4 1.5GHz have +36% and +41% better SPECfp2000
performances respectively over 1.2GHz Ahtlon Thunderbird, the fastest AMD
CPU today, runs with DDR SDRAM. While compared with Pentium 3 1GHz (Intel
VC820, PC800 RDRAM), they have +72% and +79% performance boosts."

Mini-Scumbria... "If you're not interested in the information coming out, why not just ignore it."

Typical Scumbria response. (Must make you feel good, following in Scumbria's footsteps)

(Q) First please tell me who Knork is? He is the person responsible for C'T's benchmarks. Tell me a little about him... background, experience, etc.

From c't mag... "Many thanks to Knork for these scores, which were taken from the latest c't mag. c't is an
absolutely awesome collection of people (though they really need to be more careful with their
Athlon samples), so I heartily recommend that you visit them before reading the rest of this article."

Parrott (mini-Scumbria)... I am interested in the benchmarks, and I don't ignore them. I thought the benchmarks that sylvester80 presented were quite interesting, didn't you?
