- Looking at the big picture, I can see the markets swooning but then going up sharply:

- almost every week this year there's been a net inflow of a $bill or so into stock funds
- baby boomers continue to sock away for their retirement; inflating ira's, 401(k)'s, etc...
- Supply of stock available continues to dwindle due to stock buybacks by the Allstate's, MSFT's, Aetna's, Bear Stearns, and others
- ipo pipeline dried up
- Short interest is at a record or near-record high
- 30 year bond a paltry 6.0% or so
- George W. Bush & Dick Cheney about to be inaugerated; along with 2% of soc sec. going into stocks
- leveling off & shrinking of federal debt if the Republicans have their way
