James, the basis of my comment is the hundreds of millions of dollars that Nortel has recently invested in facilities to ramp up their production to meet demand. Can Ciena spend the hundreds of millions spent by Nortel to ramp up their production. Remember, they don't get paid for the product until the product is installed and tested. Nortel's quarterly decline is substantially due to the delay in installation of the product. I have read nothing on this question but I think there is huge question out there about the capacity of many of these smaller companies to ramp up production to compete with the bigger companies like NT, LU and ALA. NT remains in front of LU and ALA because they have a better product at a lower price. My opinion - No written support.
