Hi Carolyn,

You sound as if you are deliberately trying to provoke arguments.

Astute observation. Because I've gotten beyond the level of any emotional attachments to my views here regarding the partisans, I'm above the fray and free to take my best shot at creating emotional responses from partisans. These are, of course, the easiest to ridicule, which is the point of the whole exercise. The notion is to attempt to raise the level of discourse on this thread to what it was immediately after the election, when we all were providing insights into the legal framework of the challenge ahead. It was a wonderful period on the thread. Subsequently, the thread deteriorated drastically to the point of mere partisanship, with the bulk of the inarticulate cheerleading coming from the right. A conclusion you may dispute, but in my mind, irrefutable.

Of late, we have gotten a great distance toward elevating the discourse here. I'm being provided valuable URLs by Vendit for further reference and generally, the tone of the thread is quite pleasant. I've even found that my main opponent of yesterday has decided that I'm too prickly and willing to engage for that person to continue.

Generally, I'm a huge fan of the airing of all the dirty laundry surrounding this affair, and I don't have an axe to grind, except to say that I loathe dissembling, I resist phoniness and I love to diss posers. I felt the thread was mature enough to handle that. How about you?

Best, Ray
