It's one of the terms that got old JP into trouble. Basically it means 'of the original French settlers or stock', so of course it can be extrapolated to mean 'pure' ... I leave the rest to your imagination.

On the French side our family tree goes back to 1640 something. On the Chinese side I'm only second generation as my grandfather got here some 270 years later from southern China.
