There is a very good reason that this is the case. It's another one of those cases of hiding the truth in plain sight. The mass media doesn't cover the vast amount of negotiation that Dr. Kissinger did on the behalf of American industry in China because, frankly, its a pretty complex and boring story for those who would rather find obstruction of justice in a blown blow job coverup. The modus operandi for the good Doctor was basically to provide access. He has been on a first name and personal basis with the leadership in China since the '70's. Deng regards him as a friend. So the way that this works is that a company, say, Catepillar, for instance, or maybe Oxy Pete, wants to sell bulldozers or develop a high sulphur coal mine in China, far away from the snooping eyes of our EPA. What the companies do is to hire Dr. Kissinger as a consultant/negotiator for access to the highest ranks of Chinese administration. This, of course, is merely a bribe, part of which Dr. Kissinger will pass along to those in charge of cutting red tape in Beijing. But it is not something that you will find much about in the general media. Though it is covered from time to time in the financial press. Since you are as capable as me to use Google and other resources, I'll allow you to do your own research on the subject. As far as Cheney is concerned, it's actually a lot more incestuous than you suggest. Halliburton has computer systems contracts today with DoD. These came about because of our own quangxi(sp?) networks here in the U.S. Cheney knew absolutely nothing of petroleum geology frontiers when he was handed the job at Halliburton. He knew the brass and that was what mattered. He's a greaser who simply had the right connections to make the deals. It was his ability and willingness to use his government connections that is the proximate cause of his ascending to the CEO position at Halliburton. The government connection to Cheney's wealth couldn't be clearer. Sec. Cheney did not divest himself of all his interests when he became the candidate. He held, and still does to this day, AFAIK, a $20MM options package that he has refused to put into a blind trust or to forego. He will clearly have a confict of interest in office, as he will certainly work his channels to make sure that his options package vests and pays off. It's all about money for him. The whole notion of increasing the oil exploration in this country is not, as he says about a sensible energy policy, it is in fact that increased oil exploration and production domestically will have a direct impact on his personal income.
