Ben,

<< And at performance levels embarrassingly below 3G specifications >>

Oh? Source? Or are you just being a Bill Frezza type Boo Bird.

CDMA will never work, it defies the Laws of Physics, becomes WCDMA will never work, it defies the Laws of Physics? I've heard that FUD before.

And why would a carrier gate transmission rates? There are at least 5 reasons I can think of. DoCoMo has stated several of them.

Are there any 1xMC handsets deployed anywhere in the world to paying commercial subscribers (corporate or private consumer)?

If yes, what transmission rates are promised on the subscription (peak, average)?

Are there different data rates available on the subscription?

If yes, what transmission rates are being achieved (peak, average)?

How many subscriptions have been sold or handsets in use.

When will Qualcomm have a CDMA chip capable of being commercially employed at 384 kbps data transmission speeds (IMT-2000 spec for pedestrian mobility).

When will 3GPP2 have a CDMA standard accepted by the ITU for 384 kbps data transmission speeds (IMT-2000 spec for pedestrian mobility).

When will Qualcomm ship a chipset in commercial quantity that is fully compliant with the IS-2000 standard.
