The Swiss independence is more appearance than reality, though. They are more or less forced to adopt most EU legislation in order to remain compatible while at the same time being unable to take any influence on the decision making process within the EU. And the Swiss central bank usually ties her actions to those of the ECB. Currently the Swiss are trying to arrange a number of bilateral treaties with the EU that are supposed to relieve some of the disadvantages of not being an EU member state.
