KeepItSimple, I believe an owner can sell a property that is leased, as leaseholds are stronger than ownership estates in most states, granted I am not familiar with California law, but that is the way it is in Texas.. If a new buyer is willing to buy while leased, then you would simply pay the rent to the new owner until the end of the lease term..
