Your benchmarks from Anand and Tom are just what I expected.

Yes of course, Tom was BS'ing when he said 1.13 didn't work and Intel is still shipping it.

Jim,

RE:The P4 is far superior to the 1.2 Athlon DDR system.

How did you come to this conclusion?

(note:no position in RMBS, INTC or AMD...just curious)

jim:
You are a bright person. Please explain me what Intel really means about "Resultant Performance Expectations" from Intel's white paper on P4 on page 4

www.intel.com/pentium4/download/netburst.pdf

I fail to see meaningful positive benchmarks for any existing applications with P4. It's getting to look like 820 chipset letdown all over again. It is going to be very long haul for Intel if MSFT's core OS's don't run applicaitons faster on P4 vs rest of competition. In most id not all previous Intel processors upgrades, the new CPU itself executed background OS housekeeping tasks much faster leaving more processing power to foreground tasks. MSFT's W2K and Windows ME are the mainstay OS's from MSFT for at least for next 18-24 months. I have yet to hear about next generation of MSFT OS's that will be P4 optimized. I would have to believe that the MSFT OS's would have to be reinvented for any possible new higher benchmarks with P4 platform.

Whine to Anand who's been very Pro Intel, not Me. Fact is P4 is a major disappointment so far.
