DAK-- As a cheese head I disagree... if progressive reform politics is 'dead', why do these things persist... I also think it's wrong to conclude that lose registration is bad, maybe it's just the progressive ghost in me. :) People are resistant to change even if it's for the better (reducing the opportunity for fraud.) Even more so when they think the have a "tradition" to extend and defend. I had to put down a poll riot after a change to stricter ID requirements caught some voters without picture ID and they took exception to the new rules. Thank gawd for cell phones and big, beefy union guys.
