I think it's safe to say Athlon has essentially hit it's ceiling. With P4 expected to hit 2GHz on the existing .18u process and AMD's .13u process delayed well beyond Intel's, I am very glad I dumped all my AMD weeks ago.

I was expecting to see a 1.6GHz P4 today as an internal document claimed but no dice. Had Intel released it they probably would have the highest performance processor in FP as well. Think what this thing will do when we see a 2Meg on-die L3 running at speeds above those released today.

yes, you're right, athlons are not available at above 750MHz (reviewers sample). If athlons would be available at higher speeds (than 750MHz) then p4 would be dead but they are not available and intel is safe <ggg>
