The only thing it may accomplish is for Yahoo to ban all sales of Nazi-related merchandise on all its websites, since as you say, the French could easily get around any country-specific portal. It's hard to fathom how all of Europe could ban such sales, but that's coming from an American perspective, where free speech protects everyone's right to espouse their views, no matter how stupid and misguided.

I guess Yahoo could enforce it since EBay and other auction sites prohibit sales of certain types of items. Making Yahoo remove these items from sale won't necessarily stop the sales, but it will prevent a large auction house from being a source.

That being said, I find it hard to believe that the French could fine a United States corporation for operating web servers here in the United States. I'm not a user of gambling sites, but they still exist don't they? And I assume they are all located in some Cayman-Islands-type place, secure from U.S. meddling.

Kevin, maybe Germany should move their capital again...to Paris.
