TGa:

"Could it be that AMD has out engineered Intel for the next 5 years?
If this is the best Intel can put out after 5 years of work, then any advance by AMD (Palomino, Hammer etc.) will further smack the P4 senseless."

Based upon indicators to date, there is very little to suggest that the "captioned" scenario is not the most likely scenario that will unfold...

TG, AMD does seem to have a good shot at suppressing al variants of the P-3 under the Athlon umbrella forever.
As to p-4?? the P-4 is in it's infancy and will get better at a rapid pace. What does AMD have to counter it? the Athlon will not go to 2 Ghz as it will die a heat death before that.
Well, we will just have to wait and see what sneal peeks we get of newer better things. I wonder if AMD will have a P-4 killer release soon?
Reading tom's review and basking in the fact that the Athlon beat the P-4 in most areas does not mean the Athlon is better in the future. What happens when the P-4 is at 2 Ghz and the Athlon cannot go faster than 1.5? At that point from what i se the P-4 will have the speed crown as well as the performance crown(which it does not have now).
s they say size(speed) matters.
Do not think I now favor Intel, just some realism.
