I don't think that even if Bush had swept in by a landslide (heaven forbid, by the way) the Nasdaq would be at 4300 today given the number of big-name warnings and misses we've had PLUS the dot-com failures PLUS the other factors you cited all of which are valid (I was pretty pissed that the Fed didn't switch bias).

I've heard too many talking heads spouting the new mantra of "multiple compression" or "multiple reduction" to believe that foreign money is responsible for most of what we're seeing. IMO big-cap techs and semis and etc are taking it on the chin mostly because last year it was "in" to believe trees grow to heaven and this year it isn't.

I do think that Sun's next two earnings announcements will be its most important announcements in years and maybe ever. Use twister as the indicator: all tech companies are going broke but not Sun.com because we own it. Next earnings report (and the one after that even more so) will determine whether he gets to crow, or eat crow.
