Your argument has some merit, but doesn't completely hold water.....if they truly make more errors than "new votes" they discover that weren't counted by the machine in the first place, then I guess you are correct...but if they find more "new votes" that were uncounted by the machines and are now allowed to count (hanging chad, etc) than they make mistakes in the count, then Gore should gain ground....question is, can he gain enough ground....Palm Beach found a huge amount of extra Gore votes in the first machine recount...maybe most of the hanging chads were actually counted that second time (maybe they ran the ballots through at a slower speed or something??), so maybe most of the remaining "undervotes" really didn't have a selection for President and maybe Gore can't mine as many new votes as he thought.....
