<With regard to overseas military ballots, everything that I have read or heard on the matter says that they had to be
postmarked and/or signed and dated not later than election day.> That was my understanding initially also, based on a Secretary of State regulation. But the Republican Legislature then significantly tightened up the requirements for requesting and voting absentee. One the changes they made was to require that the "With respect to marked ballots mailed by absent qualified electors overseas, only those ballots mailed with an
APO, FPO, or foreign postmark shall be considered valid."

leg.state.fl.us

I wasnt able to watch the argument, but I understand the AG made some comments that postmarks were required, so at this point, it is hard to figure out what the rule is.

JP and TP and All~ Regarding Military Ballots....We MUST find out from EACH
service person exactly WHEN their ballot arrived to their hands(the DATE),

and the DATE each
of them filled them out,

and the DATE each was mailed, and from WHAT location.

It will be easier to trace back when we all get that information.

HOW will we get
this information???

Hammer on our elected Reps....AND the press....

Call our
precincts...ask questions, make a new board here on SI for those links and
information for each precinct, county, and state in the Nation.....

HOWEVER this
election comes out, I truly think it is imperative that EACH one of us in the US get
some answers that we can believe....we can be part of the process, but we must let
our Representatives and the press know we are serious about the answers...

<<Thus the lack of a postmark would not exclude them if they met the other criteria. >>

One standard used was the ballot was accepted or rejected before opening. Ie. they were rejected without taking into consideration the other criteria.

The ballots provided by the florida counties did not have a place to put a date. Federal ballots have a place to put a date. Another violation of federal law intent by florida.

Florida in 1980 was sued by the federal goverment for screwing members of the Armed Forces and now under a consent decree. I don't know the details.
