Richard,

I basically did the same thing you did and would have no problem with it if Bob would just not ignore the advice he has given, just as though it never happened.

I am referring to him telling his readers to buy QQQ in the low to mid 70s when he had just a few weeks earlier said to buy at the earliest opportunity, which was 83.

And refusing to discuss the QQQ trade on the radio which had gone down while touting the sell signal of January 11th.

In my opinion, it is wrong to only hype his positive calls and to disregard the calls he wishes he had not made.

Chris

Your post makes an excellent point.

bobbrinker.com posters use the word "faith" a lot. I agree with a poster on another board - "Faith is a word you only want to hear in church".

I like to use Brinker as a macro-indicator for the general market climate. UTEK was the first, and only, stock I ever bought based solely on someone else's (BB's) recommendation. I got burned badly and learned a lot about who needs to make the decisions. It wasn't the money I lost so much as feeling stupid because I knew next to nothing about UTEK. I took a 30% loss and switched into a stock I researched myself that gave me 6x return in a year and a half.

During the 90s Brinker helped me let my winners run, which is something I find very hard to do. Now I hear him say that the general direction is down for the forseeable future. Based on that I've adjusted my investment style to be more paranoid by using stops. I waited on QQQ till it was under 70. I got stopped out at 75 after the turn down from 77. In again at 70.5, but stopped out at 70 on the drop from 72 today. I agree with BB that QQQ is probably a good bet in here, but I'm sure not going to take a bath on it.

FWIW, there is a nice write up on UTEK in the print edition of today's IBD (New America section)
