Re: Intel can generate SPEC code which runs very fast on P4, because branches and data fetches are predictable.

But don't forget that, like the 860, P4 will someday be appreciated as a fine embedded chip for things like network cards and RAID disk controllers. It's perfect for those types of applications (as opposed to general purpose CPU use).
