Hi Vendit,

Well now here we get a chance to disagree. I like Yahoo. Except for being so vulgarly ridiculous in saying that they would keep Nazi paraphernalia on the web as a First Amendment right, in spite of the sensible French request to suppress this hatred.

And I think that both of us may agree that the elections should be called about, um, well, maybe, let's snooze a little bit longer, maybe Noon on Wednesday after election day, except if it's close.

OTOH, I see that the rest of the world, sensibly, has done away with the effort that was made by the framers to ostracize the working man from the polls by enforcing an obscurely arrived at first Tuesday after the first Monday of November election date. Now, not only was that a hardship on the few machinists of the day, it was an absolute slap in the face at the yeoman farmers who were understandably far more interested in their crops than in national politics. The gentry set a date with destiny. Or so they hoped.

Far more sensibly, many countries in Europe declare a holiday for the election of public official. As if the public ought to be involved. I'm not holding my breath for Hilarious, the Distaff** to propose that one. For she knows full well how to dissemble in her own right. Fight for a silly cause like abolishing the Electoral College. While leaving real reform at the shredding room, because she, alas, is merely interested in power herself.

Will we change the way we report the elections. Not on your life, brudda. No way. For you see, in America, there is only one problem with instant gratification....

It takes too long***.

Laisse le bonne temps rouler, Ray
