Hello Kodiak! I think Gore is looking for an exit strategy. (I know, you think I've lost my mind. Maybe I have.)

The State of Florida is going to allow the absentee ballots to be counted. They don't have much choice. Even some Gore supporters believe he went too far with that. In my mind, it's inconceivable to deny the military personnel the right to have their vote count, technicalities not withstanding.

Gore's Boston precinct bosses would have too many votes to manufacture once the absentee ballots are counted.

If Gore takes it all the way and loses, he'll be seen as a sore loser. This may hurt fund raising for other democrats in the House and Senate.

I'll bet Gore's statisticians have told Gore he can't win at the current rate. I think Gore let's the count continue another day or two, sees he can't win and makes a spectacle of conceding gracefully. (We owed it to the American people to see that we had a fair and accurate count, that every vote counted. Yada, yada, yada.)

All in my humble but biased opinion. <VBG>
