One more speculation: punched out chads filling up too much for Gore in heavily Democratic area blocked voters later in the day from punching completely through their ballots.

For the rich, the educated and the young on this thread, that sounds laughable and I can certainly understand your feeling.

One thing to keep in mind is that we may remain rich and educated for a long time to come - but on the flip side as that long time comes to pass, we will not remain young. Let's get back here after our ages advance past the high 70s to trade notes about the kind of mishaps we will make then but at this moment we don't think we ever will. Some of us if (un)lucky enough will one day punch a 'pregnant' chad in a close election and find out that our votes are disputed by the winning side. We will know then how some of our older folks now feel in FLA.

I am not a Gore's fan, but I do think Gore owes it to everyone on both sides to make sure the process run its course - win or lose. In doing so, he's assuring that there is no theft allowed to happen in this election.
