If I understand them correctly, the 'boxes' are pre semi-perforated to make them easy to knock the chads out. Is that right? If so, this is different (and even more troublesome) from the computer cards of old, where a real puncher has to be used. My guess is that whether the chads can be knocked loose from bending or sharp impact within a box largely depends on how these impressions are made during the preforation step. Is that right? It also makes it very easy to stick a small stick through a whole stack of them to get some hanging chads and some dimpled chads no? If someone could hire a special operative that could sneak into the buldings where the ballot boxes were kept after the election before a recount (or in other big counties where a manual recount has not started) and poke a stick through a few stacks, I suspect many in either camp would not hesitate if the chance of getting caught is slim. I sure hope the boxes are kept in burglar-proof and tamper-proof vaults now. :) You wonder why tin-pot dictators are laughing and wondering about how they would do in the same situation. :) I'm only worried of the ST vs LT because of the current bearish sentiments, but you're right in that sometimes I sell at the wrong time only to buy back at a higher price. So far, it looks more like I sell, buy lower, sell lower, buy lower, sell lower for quite a few stocks, but NT could prove me wrong, so I think it all averages out to be so-so. Hard to come out ahead without shorting anything recently. If a bull mkt returns, I can be the best buy and hold guy again. Regards. edit: I give up, back in NT for about can$3 (us$2) above what I sold them for. Here's to another excursion into that cookie jar. :) SbH
