In the "stop the insanity" department, perhaps W should Look Homeward, Angel.

The rules say that in the event of a recount, a ballot may not be counted
unless:

-- At least two corners of the chad are detached.

-- Light is visible through the hole.

-- An indentation on the chad from the stylus or other object is present
and indicates a clearly ascertainable intent of the voter to vote.

-- The chad reflects by other means a clearly ascertainable intent of the
voter to vote.

That from nytimes.com . Meanwhile, whatever happened to the Jim McMannis whine about late votes from Israel? I imagine that one is inoperative these days. In the Florida context, of course, the impartial and objective arbitration of the Bush campaign co-chair is final on these issues. Since she's told the state Supreme Court they have no say in the matter, I don't know why they're bothering with this stuff, but that's life. Someone ought to tell them about Bush campaign worker legal infallibility.
