(NYSE:A), a leading provider of innovative technologies for communications and life sciences, today announced its ArctiCooler Model CD cooling system, a lower-cost and quieter cooling solution that meets the thermal, acoustic, size, weight and reliability specifications for the Intel(R) and AMD microprocessors operating at up to 1.2 GHz. The ArctiCooler Model CD cooling system, designed for Intel Pentium(R) III Coppermine socket 370 and AMD Athlon, socket 462 FC-PGA processors, are much quieter than any competing cooling system (25 dB sound pressure versus well into the 30 dB range), making today's smaller-form-factor desktop computers much more acceptable to noise-sensitive users. "Today's thermal solution decisions are becoming increasingly difficult and are made rapidly obsolete by uncertainties and conflicting information about processor performance, volume availability and thermal power levels," said Bill Carson, Agilent's ArctiCooler marketing manager. "The Model CD is the latest in a line of ArctiCooler solutions, each of which cover a full range of possible scenarios confronting the thermal designer for any given processor. The model CD has the robust thermal performance needed to support that full range of scenarios, and ensures an OEM's Intel PIII Coppermine or AMD Athlon FCPGA solution. This completely eliminates the threat of thermal solution redesign and requalification." The Agilent ArctiCooler product line spans all high-performance IA-32 and similar single-chip processors. Other models are available for use with the Intel Pentium 4 and similar board-attach designs. The ArctiCooler model CB provides the solution for the full market life of the Pentium 4 Willamette processor and the introductory phase of the Foster processor. The lower-cost ArctiCooler model CC serves the entry phase of the Willamette processor. The products are on display at electronica 2000, the 19th International Trade Fair for Components and Assemblies in Electronics, at the New Munich Trade Fair Center, Nov. 21 to 24, 2000. More information about the Agilent ArctiCooler product line can be found at www.semiconductor.agilent.com/arcticooler/. U.S. Pricing and Availability The ArctiCooler model CD is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2001, priced in the $6 range for high volume orders.
