I think getting rid of the electoral votes and winning by majority would get rid of many of the current problems. And using touch screen computers, where you touch the name of the person you are voting for as opposed to punching some 15 century machine, would also help alleviate the problems. Of course it may start new problems like hacking but we will take up that discussion when it happens.

So, another interpretation is: Bush tried to block these routine, very legal process of recounts. (from Dan3) Recall that Bush went to court first, and recall that Bush opted to not follow routine processes. And, Bush presumptuously declared himself the winner - well before these processes were completed. The above is only one interpretation out of many, but maybe the correct interpretation is both Parties did positioning. But that's politics, so both sides positioned this to help themselves, like recounts in only 3 Dem counties. However, there is one thing which was unacceptable, regardless of your Party: the SOS was inappropriate when she sent "notices" demanding canvassing boards not to obey a Statute. Regards, Amy J
