The term "people of color" (and its likenesses) is too cumbersome. I refuse to say "Consult with James. He's the tall guy of colour over there." I would much rather say "He's the tall coloured guy over there."

Or

"He's the black guy."

I refuse to say "He's the African American guy over there." Too cumbersome, and chances are the guy is as African as you or I. I reject the term, whatever the NAACP or black overcomers demand.

Oops. There goes my sensitive image.
