The PWeeiii/Athy thing has been all about MHz being a fairly accurate determinate of overall perrformance and in suc an environment I'd agree MHz sells...The P4 seems to require significanlty more MHz to compete favourably with the Athy...Just don't think the MHz sells thing ia going to hold for the P4...You gotta have the performance to back up the MHz...The P4 is wanting in this regard based on what I've seen...

That's because the 6x86 offered lower overall performance, not just lower MHz.

Also, there were tons of areas where the 6x86 had lower same-clock performance.

The two situations are not exactly identical.

But I do agree that AMD needs to ramp Athlon as fast as they can.
