That's a pretty good move you just made, but I see one thing that could prevent some OEM to take part in this hypothetic program : Gateway, for example, is charging $200 for an upgrade to 256 Mb... they must do tons of profit on it...

Just my 2 cents

Max

Petz, Re: AMD Performance Computing, a trademark of Advanced Micro Devices

LOL, this is ingenious. ;-)

IMO this is the aggressive advertisement path AMD should go. I really would love such a campaign. But I wonder why you come up with far much better advertising ideas than AMD's entire marketing department? It can't be that hard, can it?

Andreas

I called Dell regarding the RDRAM memory in the three P4 systems listed on their web site. The 1.5GHz system is indeed PC800. The two 1.4GHz systems are PC600. The upgrade charge to go from 128MB PC600 to 128MB PC800 is $100. The upgrade charge to go from 128MB PC600 to 256MB PC800 is $440. The upgrade charge to go from 128MB PC600 to 256MB PC600 is $240.

Re: "The whole goal of getting the OEM's to increase the standard memory is because we know that Intel doesn't have a PC133 solution for Pentium 4's for a year (six months if VIA is successful earlier). P4 PC's will simply be UNSELLABLE if 256M is the standard."

Duh....Brain Dead Idea !!

You want the OEM's - who make more money selling Intel systems - to sabotage their Intel sales !!!

What a hoot !!!

You AMDroids have as much common sense as a screen door on a submarine !!
