The thought is kind, but I think that I'll stay home and send the airfare instead. That way, a hundred locals get a job, some income, and a bite to eat, and I get a donation credit at tax time.

Cheers, PW.

P.S.

Also, the locals are spared dealing with another cranky white person bitching about the bugs, heat, rough TP, .... I once said that those who want far away places to provide the comforts of home should stay home. I'm following my own admonitions.

I have a nephew heading to the Horn of Africa to work with Afar people. He's been to Africa a couple of times doing missionary work. He feels he's both cut out for, and called to do this. Anyway, he'll have some fascinating stories when he returns in a few years. He's welcome to go: I wouldn't. We're different. He can't stand dealing with computers or investing, and I wouldn't be caught dead preaching.

just heard on CNBC that clinton spared the life of a 45 pound turkey, and that it will be sent to a petting zoo instead of winding up on the clinton's dinner table.

jeez, there ought to be a joke in there somewhere....
