The banner doesn't bother me at all. Maybe my peripheral vision is shot. But sacrifice a <1" strip of screen for $20. I'll take it.

Don't be sure that AOL poltergeist is MS's fault. Just like the CDs which seem to appear everywhere, AOL turns up in all kinds of third party packages and insinuates itself into your registry and start-up somefuckinghow. I've taken a stab to cure that one in some systems too and have been thwarted as well. No IE either. That place used Netscape. Nor did it use Outlook. It used Groupwise or Groupstupid as I used to call it.

As for downloading IE, it is big but you can forget about downloading almost any software at 56k speeds. What is Roadrunner?
