They say it is being done illegally. All parties that were in the election are supposed to be invited to participate in the hand count. Usually they all are. This time only the Democrats and a few Republicans have been invited to participate in the hand count. I wonder why? Freeus Here's the article: The Florida Libertarian Party is in there pitchin'. Here is a story about their treatment by "Boss Hogg" Florida officials when it comes to counting votes. BTW, this is quite different than what our local Libertarian Party encounters in San Diego County, where we are INVITED to join the process of vote counting. In this fraud-laden recount, the case can be made that the most impartial vote counters of all are Libertarians, who don't care for EITHER of the two leading Presidential candidates. The URL below is too long and probably wraps around into two lines, so you need to put them together if you want to go to the web page for the story. But the text of the story is below anyway. ===============dotcomdirectory.newsalert.com nq Libertarians File Motion Against Recounts in Florida Supreme Court PR Newswire - Tuesday, November 21, 2000 TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Nov. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- An attorney for the Libertarian Party of Florida today filed a motion with the Florida Supreme Court to intervene in the consolidated recount case which is now before the court. The motion asks the court to prevent certification of recounts on the grounds that they are irredeemably tainted by the fact that Libertarian election observers were not permitted to observe the recount as required by state law. The Supervisors of Elections in Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Volusia Counties did not notify all candidates on the ballot of the recount nor did they permit representatives of all candidates on the ballot to observe the recount. Such notification and observers are required by Florida law. The Libertarian Party of Florida had previously demanded inclusion of Libertarian Party observers in the manual recount of votes, getting a response from only one of the four counties. Libertarian Party candidate for President, Harry Browne, was on the ballot and received 16,396 votes in Florida in the November 7th election. According to Lisa Bullion, the Chair of the Libertarian Party of Florida, she even went to the canvassing board meeting in Volusia County and was thrown out by two deputy sheriffs on order of the chairman of the canvassing board.
