mishedlo:
Will tomorrow be bleak?

Only if you live in Buffalo where it's been snowing for 2 days now. LOL

Futures start to move decisively after 8 AM. So I am going to get a good night's sleep and think about tomorrows market action tomorrow. Actually futures were up over 33 pts. I think things will be all right if Bush, Mr. State's rights, doesn't go crying to US Supreme Court ASAP.

RE:"Well folks, it looks like they are going to count dimpled ballots.
As an aside I see futures went from +18 to -20.
Will tomorrow be bleak?"

Hi mishedlo; OT re chad... From talking to my friends, it seems like I am the only one who voted for one candidate, but thinks that the other one won "fair and square," and is likely to win the court battle as well. This observation may apply to the public at large. Both sides may now be convinced that their boy won, and so got a bit complacent about the whole thing.

It is my expectation that Gore will be the next president. This will anger the right wing more than anything that has happened in the past 50 years. I can only hope that the resulting violence will not become truly serious. (My level of "seriousness" is kind of high. The Palestinian problem is just on the margin between insignificant and unimportant, on my scale.) My worry about this is the absence of true statesmen in this country. Hopefully someone from the losing party will stand up and make a conciliatory statement. Something to the effect that half the voters did vote for the other guy, but that they're gonna get them back at the midterm elections.
