Now that they have a firm deadline, the GOP folks will slow the the counting process to a crawl and challenge every possible ballot. Unless the canvassing board operates on no-dose for the next five days straight, they will never get through all of the challenged ballots, and then there will be court fights over those. In some strange way, this could even help Bush's electoral legitimacy. Gore will have got his manual recount and Bush still wins. No one in Florida is getting much sleep between now and Sunday, and for the elections workers Thanksgiving dinner is going to consist of a turkey sandwich.
