Just read the Florida Supreme Court's order, and have some thoughts, but they are probably irrelevant to the question foremost in your mind, what is going to happen to the market over the short run.

With respect to the ultimate resolution of the question of who will be President, the Florida Supreme Court could not restrain themselves, and fashioned an equitable remedy rather than applying the statues, which I have to say seemed like a foregone conclusion after watching the oral arguments.

By doing so, they gave Dubya his ace in the hole, if he needs it, because 3 U.S.C. 5 requires that the federal electors be selected according to the laws on the books before the election. This is definitely changing the rules in the middle of the game. But looking at this objectively, it's not a very strong argument, I fear.

The next question is factual - whether or not Gore gets a majority of the recounts vote by 5:00 p.m. Sunday, which may turn on the question of dimpled chad. Gore ain't giving up and neither is Bush.

This mess won't go away for the foreseeable future. We may well have Speaker of the House Denny Hastert acting as president while the legal avenues are exhausted.

actually the spoos have so far only surrendered the closing jam. neutral for the market opening...plus, these market moving events seem always to occur when the market's closed,so there's plenty of time to plan on what to do about it in PPT town as someone on RB has mentioned.
