The point being that in our system today, the SC is an entity unto itself. It answers to no one and has ultimate authority. It makes law whenever and however it sees fit and no one else has a say in the matter. We no longer have a three part system. We have an executive branch and a legislative branch which only proposes law in hopes that the SC will allow it to stand.

Something very precious died today.

Duly noted, Jim. One place to not consider retiring to. Living in California, getting close to as many years as in New England, makes it moot anyway.
