I wouldn't trust trust hand counting in Texas either. I also don't trust the balloting process in many states. Why choose Texas as an example? Do you think Texas law should be the basis for law in Florida? If you want to apply Texas law to Florida then there is one recount and a predefined set of standards. Is this what you are proposing?

Oregon has the right idea. Every ballot is signature checked before counting. I would bet the amount of fraud in the Oregon vote is a lot smaller than the fraud in the Florida vote.

Do you think election procedures will change because of this fiasco? I doubt it. Too many people in power prefer a method that allows for cheating.
