Customer Success: Korea Telecom Collects Up to 360 Million Call Detail Records Daily With ACE*COMM Mediation Solution Distributed Call Measurement System (DCMS) Exceeds Customer Expectations For Functionality, Reliability and Flexibility GAITHERSBURG, Md., Nov 22, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Korea Telecom (KT), the leading provider of telecommunications services in Korea, has deployed ACE*COMM's DCMS mediation solution to capture call detail records (CDRs) to feed its operations and business support systems in real-time. The DCMS, a component of ACE*COMM's Convergent Mediation(TM) suite, captures network usage records from a diverse array of switches and delivers processed data that can be used for billing, fraud detection, and other operations support systems (OSS). Recently, KT purchased software upgrades from ACE*COMM for its growing data requirements.
"We have been pleased with the performance of ACE*COMM's DCMS," said Jin- Seob Yoon, Senior Member of Technical Staff, Operation Research Team, Korea Telecom. "The system has demonstrated the flexibility to collect up to 360 million Call Detail Records (CDRs) per day from a wide variety of network elements including Siemens, Alcatel, Ericcson, and AT&T switches. Additionally, it can handle new requirements and has continued to keep pace with advancing technologies."
In recent years, ACE*COMM has provided over 350 redundant DCMSs as part of KT's Centralized Automated Message Accounting (CAMA) project, whose objective was to automate the collection and distribution of billing data in an effective, accurate, and timely manner. The collection network was developed and deployed by a consortium of companies, which included Samsung, Iljin, LGIC, and ACE*COMM. The KT CAMA project was successfully implemented and included the establishment of manufacturing, joint research and development, and customer service initiatives in Korea and the United States.
"Service providers no longer have years to build-out and perfect a business infrastructure. The pace of change in the communications arena requires solutions that are immediately deployable and able to bridge the gap between legacy and new technologies," said Dr. Thomas V. Russotto, Chief Technology Officer at ACE*COMM. "We provide mediation solutions that manage carrier data in real-time. With over 3,000 customer-site installations in 65 countries, we enable customers like KT to collect network usage data from a wide range of sources, including IP and ATM data networks, wireless networks, and traditional circuit switches."
