Anand says in his AMD roadmap article that the Palimino core will only offer lower power consumption. But in the conclusion he says this: The Athlon’s potential is quite great, however it’s going to take much more than a cooler running core to allow AMD to continue their growth in the performance desktop market. We’ve seen the benefits that a very powerful branch prediction unit can give the Pentium 4, and it is widely known that the Athlon’s unit is holding it back in many cases. Does Anand know something that he can't say? Does this imply the better branch prediction rumors? anandtech.com
