Agreed. But your average foreign national citizen doesn't know this. To them all they see is another day of the U.S. ship adrift with nary a leader to be found at the helm. One thing is clear. The voting process is definitely in need of reformation, eh?

To think that in this high-tech, internet woven age we still rely on a circa 1940's styled system to select our government leaders. It'd be laughable if the consequences of continued reliance on such a system weren't so serious. It kind'a sort'a amounts to maintaining our modern air-transportation network with a circa 1930's air traffic system. Uhhhhh.....on second thought....let me rephrase that.....(this is a joke for anyone who understands the state of our nation-wide air-traffic control system).

Now back to plucking diamonds out of the bath-water the market has just thrown out the window....

John~

OFF-TOPIC

Hi, Bigcue,

I'm glad to hear about Nevada's voting system, and happy to report that at least here in Bailey's Crossroads (Virginia), the semi-modern "electrical" voting machines used here worked just fine. You press the button next to the name you want and a red light turns on. If you want to change your vote, press another button and the first light is replaced by the new one. Afterward, you push the big red button to lock everything in and you're done. Took me about 10 seconds. I'm pretty sure my vote got counted.

M and I are looking forward to seeing you and J at the shareholders' meeting. We had hoped to get out there this fall, but too much has gotten in the way.

Regards, lws

PS -- great work on tracking Alcatel !!

The State of Florida should give up their machines and make every voter write in the names they select. That would get rid of all the dummies who can punch a hole in paper and follow arrows. Meanwhile, they legislate from the bench and throw the election to someone who announced that the market is not a good investment and we need to spend and tax, spend and tax. Notice how stocks are down and gold is up? That's foreign money losing faith in our markets with the new events transpiring. Maybe we should sell everything and buy Occidental Petroleum. Bah, humbug!!!!
