*OT-Zeev, first note that I value the discussion/debate over the election if for no other reason, the historical relevance it holds. As is always when drawn to the issue of politics, we all have opinions and emotional ones in many cases.

My initial objective in presenting what I did was not to express one's opinion but to stick to something that you are obviously good at! Now, unless you are an expert in electoral law, in which I am not, the "advice" I was offering was friendly and complementary.

Concerning your five posts. First of all, #2 is irrelevant because we elect presidents by the electoral college and not the popular vote. Any implication to the contrary is for self gratification purposes only. #1 and #3 are a given or we wouldn't be discussing it. As for #5, Mr. Daley still contends that the law is the law and until a court says a military ballot without a post mark is legal initially, he will continue to make an ass of himself.

Item #4 is unique. Imagine yourself in the same position. I agree that if a person "checkmarked" or "circled" a choice, regardless of their intelligence level(ha), they have still demonstrated their intent and those ballots should count. Any mix of the two, IN MY OPINION ONLY, creates confusion and would leave me open for subjective error. This error cannot be ignored. An error of commission is greater than any error of omission. The Texas law in place could quite ironically be declared invalid if ever challenged. It reads and has been interpreted by many in a number of ways. I have heard numerous explanations and I still can't determine which one I "LIKE"!!!;)

The bottom line is, we have a paradox. One of the judges stated a hypothetical that pertained to "what if the canvassing board went to the islands..." As in many facets of life, we created a system that has proven itself flawed. We all agree that we can't hand count a county like Dade in 7 days (maximum), but on the other hand, we can't just rewrite dates on laws as we go. I don't know if my republican vote got counted. I feel slighted. The process in place I believe was never intended for a Presidential race!

Sabre!
