Another Thing You Can Do Is Evaluate Their Actual Weightings vs Their True Market Cap Weightings

Although the index is nominally market cap weighted they indicate they make adjustments to ensure the index is "representative".

By finding the stocks with a higher weighting than their market cap would indicate you can begin to identify the least expensive stocks to pump to get the max. impact on the index.

bobcor,

I don't believe you can get up to the date percentage weightings.

Naz is cap weighted, therefore any calculation would require outstanding shares.

IE, Cisco going down 1 point with 7 billion shares outstanding is equal to Yahoo going down 14 points because they have .5 billion shares.

There must be a formula somewhere that they use to calculate this thing.
