This point is being debated right now in court, according to a poster on the Bush thread. The democrat lawyers want all dimples to be included as equal weight votes. The canvassing board quite rightly points out the potential for overvotes, i.e. a hole punched out and a dimple on the same ballot. Of course, it would be easy to make a case that a voter punched out one name by mistake and then punched a dimple for the one he intended to vote for.

IMO, one takes the punch and screws the dimple [and a sympathy card to the voter]; it's a no brainer.

However, "a poster on the Bush thread". I've seen "edited" press releases on this thread to help support a point or discredit someone else, so I am personally cautious of posts without supporting links or links in German <s>, or at least verifiable source information. I wouldn't even blame, by default, the poster. There is so much "stuff" floating around the net, you don't know what's happened to it before it got to you. It's like sex without a condom, you may know and trust your partner, but.....that doesn't guarantee that some nasty stuff won't get passed on.

It's sometimes difficult to sort out the truth, especially when words are used by the political machines for "position", but I think it's worthwhile digging through it all and see what is going on. The system and process that we have works pretty well most of the time and I'm willing to trust it, if it's carried through.

Best Regards,
