RE:"I've watched William Daley speak on TV. This guy is a piece of work. He calls the situation in Florida "an injustice unparalleled in American history." Good people appear on TV and say B.S. like that?"

At least Daleys Dad had the "decency" to try and fabricate votes in private, behind closed doors. These new guys have no problem trying to do it in public...
Oh, how times have changed...

It seems being a "good person" in Lawyerdom is akin to being clever and how well you can extract money from the system.
At a Lawyer get-together in PBC about 6 months ago the topic of choice was how great it would be to "get something" on Bill Gates so they could sue...

John,

re: "Crooks can be "skilled manipulators." People who hold the wrong principles (or none at all) can be "skilled manipulators." Even German leaders back in the early 20th century can be "skilled manipulators."... There is no end to the danger when "skilled manipulation" is revered as a "virtue" above all other virtues. I hope you're not one of those people, but your arguments seem to suggest otherwise."

So, I believe that being a "skill manipulator" is a "virtue above all else"? Where did you get that? I agreed with Jim that Gore had a better legal team than Bush, and i think that's a plus for Gore. Now you are saying I am for "crooks", people with "wrong principles" and even Nazi's? Lighten up, Ten.

One of the most "skilled manipulators" I remember was R. Regan. In fact the definition of a politician could be "skilled manipulator".

re: "Good people appear on TV and say B.S. like that?"

I never said Daley was a good person, did I?

re: "If you know lots of lawyers who are good people, I'd sure like to see them in positions of power. So far, the only people I see in those positions are the crooks."

As a general rule, "good people" don't end up in positions of power.
