. . . . . . . Early Interest Indicator: Quote Inquiries . . . . .

Does anyone know the technical capabilities regarding seeing quote inquiries. I saw a report the other day from someone at Instanet who said they were watching to see if investors were looking for quotes on a particular stock. . .but they were not seeing many quote inquiries yet.

If those at Instanet can see when we investors inquire about a stocks price, then would it not be true that Island and Nasdaq and NYSE can also see when we request quotes. But I would like some confirmation on this from anyone who is sure about their information. Because if brokers, market makers, etc. can see each time we request quotes on a stock, then WE need to likewise see this info. No?

I would also like any suggestions for ways that we can access this information. . . through whichever quote service or otherwise.

Thanks,
