Powell would be an excellent choice. Bush is going to have to concede in a big way now, because half the people of this country who bothered to vote, voted for someone else. Powell would be a great way to show people that Bush is willing to look at more than one side of an issue. Plus, Powell is really a great American hero. It would send a very clear message to anyone in the world that thinks the new administration is weak.

In any event, Dick Cheney is going to be fine, I do believe.

Get well, Dick! Neither Powell or McCain, IMO, would be suitable candidates for veep. Powell has NO experience as an elected official, he has been far too diffident politically and I don't like him.

McCain is not a team guy and would end up a big P in the A.

Rule out members of the congress except where they can be replaced by a GOP gov and have a good chance of hanging on to the seat.

Rule out sitting govs for much the same rationale.

How 'bout Newt? Hillary would go nuts :-)
