I believe that the Florida Supreme Court acted within its jurisdiction, considering the circumstances. I know that some of the right is screaming about rewriting the law, but I think all they did was try to interpret some ambiguities, and that aligns with federal law in their view. They are liberals, so it is no surprise to me that they did what they did. I'm much more concerned with the bigger picture, like NBC calling this "The Battle for the White House". That has not been mentioned once, as far as I can see. It just chaps my ass that these media @#$%@## can do things like that. They just create the conflict, watch people get bent out of shape and then "report the news." Any mention on any network of them calling the election in Florida before the polls closed? Any investigation into that by the media? Oh, no.

I think Bush has acted in an exemplary manner throughout this entire thing. I really do. I hear some Repubs screaming that he should be more active, that he should go into attack mode. I look at it like I think he is looking at it: if he loses, it's not the end of the world. If he wins, then he is going to have to be just about the most dignified and civilized statesmen we have seen in the last 8 years from day one. I think he won the election, so I think he is doing the right thing.

Another thing I read somewhere: Gore, if he wins, will have Clinton to advise him. Bush will have his father. All other things being equal, I would much rather Bush Sr. as an advisor to the President at this point.
