OT: Zeev

Do not disagree with your points on partisanship.

I think it is too early to say what the florida supreme court justices were thinking. Perhaps if the person who introduced Boies was not the same person who was responsible for getting 5 of the judges on the bench their jobs, it would have been a more B&W issue.

Anyone who even gets close to this is tarnished for life.

Agree! When she stated her decision, I laughed quite loud! I mean, it was just too obvious. Now, if she would have given a 5 day extension etc... maybe even just 3 days with a smile and supporting lip service compliment to the voters side, well, she'd be a hero and Gore would be wondering what just happened.

Gore has this thing won. I mean, at this point, I don't care anymore, but I've about had it with all the lawyer crap for the remainder of the current decade!

BTW, I know your going to love hearing this but our boy Lieberman is being used like an old wash cloth. There are so many qualified candidtes for that V.P. office but picking a jewish man was a sad reminder that some people will go to no end to get what they want.

He will do well because he is a good man, but he has already had to bite the bullet on the military vote.

One more point, If I ever get in a jam, I want that Boise guy on my side!! Man, he is sharp. Photographic memory, IMO.

Sabre!

Zeev:

OT The FL Secretary of State followed the letter of the law which had the "shall" certify by the date. This did not give her leway. Another stature indicated she "may" allow manual recounts. Granted there is a conflict with the statutes (when you consider the time constraints) but in law shall does not leave room for interpretation while may does give room.

Well she is being bashed about by the media but wasn't it a democratic judge which upheld her position. I'd say this justified her attorneys position (she had legal advice on her ruling). It took the SC to interpret what the legislature meant and use a prior court case, not the actual statutes to reverse the Secretary of State.

She followed the law and the SC changed it. So when implying she overstepped her bounds or was inflexible look at the facts and not the spin. Yes she is Republican but if she didn't do what she did it would have been a violation of the law. I just scratch my head when people banter about on stuff like this.

Hey I'm a republican but I want Gore to win (although I voted for Bush). If Bush wins in 4 years we are back to a Democratic controlled house and senate with a Democratic president. Right now the FED has only popped the NAZ bubble. Hey the credit bubble hasn't even begun to unravel. As a moderate / conservative I do not want to see a Republican in the White House as this happens.

Isn't it great the FL Attorney General is now letting the un postmarked ballots qualify (no matter who they voted for) from the military. Don't forget he sent this missive out after the certification closed.

Hey Gore probably (we don't really know since the ballots were screwed up by the voters) did garner the majority of those who voted so he has every right to feel as if he should be President.

When your bashing the "dimple" and manual counts in Texas also remember this is in the statutes and everyone knows the rule before the election.

In FL prior to the election double holes and dimples were to NOT count (or at least this was what I heard (this can be spin) the Democratic guidelines in one of the 4 recount counties) but its not in a statute.

To fix the problem all they need to do is teach a class on how to punch out a hole in a card. Rocket science and they don't have to incur millions.
