Let me 'splain something....

Jim.

Let me make clear that I suspect their were improprieties on both sides during the original vote count on election nite. With machines doing the actual count, it would seem that there had to have been human help to insure that 88% of the counties miscounted.

However in the first recount I believe there was little if any wrong doing in spite of your suspicions in PB county. I find it hard to believe that anyone would risk cheating and a felony conviction with the nation watching so closely.

BTW I hesitate to discuss this issue since its not complete, but right here in WA state we still have a race to close to call which will have nearly the impact as the Presidential race.....that's WA's race for Senator. The initial count has gone very slowly but is required to be completed today. State law requires that if the spread is less than a certain percentage, there must be a recount automatically. That spread parameter has been breached and the state's Secretary of State has already announced that a recount will begin next Monday with completion by next Friday.

This has gone on without rancor, accusations and lawsuits. Certainly, the candidates are freaked out but they are not suggesting impropriety or threatening any kind of action should they lose. Fortunately, state law has adequately provided for this eventuality so far. I hope we will not encounter difficulties in the final recount.

As for this race's impact, should the Democrats win, it will mean a 50/50 split in the Senate and should the Republicans win, they will have a one person plurality. As of this AM, the Democrats were in the lead with less than 2K votes.
