Ng767 Re...If the Celeron were more competitive with the Duron, then it would be dangerously close to the PIII in performance, but because the PIII cannot ramp to higher speeds on the current process, and because Intel realizes the importance of trying to maintain clock speed parity with the Duron which is approaching 1GHz, Intel must significantly cripple the Celeron's performance making the budget chip pitifully slow compared to its AMD rival, Duron. <<

Niceguy, I think your postulating about AMD going to the moon will happen sooner or later, as soon as the ratings for the P4 sink in. This manipulation of Cellery just to save its PIII will backfire, as sites like Tom's and Anands continue to bash the chip. It sounds like the PIII will be the low end with the P4 trying to save the middle soon enough. I just can't figure out why Intel is trying so hard to secure the low end, as the P4 will be low end after several more of Tom's and Anand's articles. Maybe we should start a contest to see how long before Intel recalls this dog. I think they will have to do that to save face.
